Bill finished his radiation and chemotherapy last Friday.  The days feel strangely empty now that they are not filled with appointments but it is nice to have some quiet time at home while the kids are at school.  We have a month of 'recovery' time before possibly starting chemotherapy again.  Bill has an MRI scheduled for the end of October at which point we hope to have a sense of whether the treatment to date has reduced the size of the tumour and from there decide where to go next.  Right now we are trying to wean Bill off as many of the medications as possible, a process that takes several weeks.
Bill is finding the days right now quite tough.  He is often tired and small tasks are challenging.  It is incredibly difficult for him to constantly feel confused yet still have an awareness that he isn't able to do the things that he could before.  We are just taking things day by day.
Thank you everyone for your continued support.  I read Bill all the emails and messages that are sent and I know he appreciates that people take the time and are thinking of him.

Just a quick note to let you know that you are not forgotten. You Bill are on the top of my prayer list. Maureen, although we have never met, I want you to know that you are doing an amazing job of looking after Bill and your two beautiful children. You are in my prayers as well. Take care

Hi Bill and Maureen,
Although I can't remember if we have worked together at Westjet, I just have the strong sense that we did.
Your battle with this disease is nothing short of amazingly courageous!
I just returned home from a 4 day..actually remembering to bid Thanksgiving off this year,. for once. Have meant to write you for a while to tell you that we are thinking of you and your family.
Stay the course!
All the very best this Thanksgiving and many more ahead.

Dear Bill,

I wanted to send you my very best wishes for strength and courage as you continue the treatment this fall. Lately I keep seeing the phrase "Love is all there is" and I know it's true and I see it in the faces of your beautiful family.

Bill and Maureen,
You are in my thoughts daily. Bill the fall colors are rampant on the eastern side of the Rockies, and the mountains themselves are covered in snow, I took a picture last week but it was not as good as the pictures you take. Keep strong, and get well bud.

Hi Guys,
This is Becca Pollard (Grad 92 for Bill and childhood pal for Maureen). I have been thinking about you both constantly since I ran into you at Cost-co Maureen. Everytime I'm on the corner of Tyndall and Feltham I wonder how you are doing Bill. I didn't know how to get in touch with you so I registered with the SMU alumni and I found you. Here you are!! I am about to go back and read the whole blog...but I wanted to write a message first. You have all been in our prayers and thoughts and we are sending Bill healthy vibes. You are young and strong and have so many people in your corner. Please let me know how I can help Maureen...food, kids...anything at all?
Big hugs, Becca

It is truly amazing how many people you have touched with your struggle to become healthy again Bill. You don't know me but I taught with Maureen and I am praying for your speedy full recovery. Wish I was closer to be able to bring over soup and goodies or even look after the kids. At this moment you are being held in the palm of the Lord's hand and he is carrying you until you have the strength to walk on your own again. That time will come. Hugs to you both Elizabeth Lunn

Bill, keep fighting buddy. You have always been a warrior and trooper and will always be. Our prayers are for you constantly. You touched a lot of people and even though it has been a long time since I have really seen you it feels like yesterday we were playing b ball in my backyard (not sure if they still use that term...could be aging me lol). Stay strong my friend. We all love you a lot.

Bill and Maureen (SMU '93 with Bill) -

I love that you wrote of "Grace", Maureen. The most incredible part of ones charater I think. Knowing Bill from long ago, he was a graceful guy in high school and I imagine he and you have tapped that to a whole new level now. My thoughts are with you guys. To the health of your family!
